By Macys McInnesA new line of children’s watch brands could make their way to China from next month, with a collaboration between the brands’ manufacturers and the country’s biggest watchmaker.

Garmin said Wednesday it will start manufacturing children’s watches in China as part of its ongoing efforts to ramp up sales to more than 100 million people by 2020.

The company, which also owns brands including the Fitbit, Pebble and Jawbone, is working with a Chinese manufacturer called Guangzhou Watch Co. Ltd., according to an announcement from the company.

That will create a new brand with a name that includes “gardens watch” in China, Garmin said.

It’s part of a larger strategy to make more than 1,000 brands available in China by 2020, including a new line made from plastic, the company said.

Garms first foray into China came in the fall of 2018, when it started manufacturing watches in Shanghai and Guangzhou.

The company also plans to start production in Hong Kong and Taiwan, which has been a key manufacturing hub for the U.S. and Europe.
