AUGUST 3, 2020 7:17AM PDT — WATCHMEN #2 is getting a run at $4,500 at the North American box office and the rest of the year.
The Warner Bros. film earned $2.1 million Friday in previews.
That would be the second-best start for a new Warner Bros.-produced film in its opening weekend and the fifth-best debut ever for a movie in its second weekend.
WATCHMEN opened on August 3, 2019, with Zack Snyder directing from a script by David S. Goyer.
Its $4 million opening in previews makes it the third-highest grossing movie in the $100 million domestic market for a WB film, behind Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($6.9 million) and Suicide Squad ($5.7 million).
Watchmen, a dark, action-packed crime drama starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, opens in 2,054 theaters on Friday.
Watchmen is being released on Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday, July 9, 2020.
It also stars Daniel Bruhl, Jesse Eisenberg, Viola Davis, Jennifer Lawrence, and Holly Hunter.
Warner Bros., which produced the film, is releasing it on home video, streaming services, VOD and digital platforms.
It is the third installment in the franchise following the DC Extended Universe and Warner Bros.’
DC Extended Justice League movie.
Warner says it will distribute the film worldwide.
WATCHING THE WIZARDS WALLSTAKES The WB also released a new video from the film’s premiere on Tuesday.
The clip features scenes from the new film in theaters.

The WB has also launched a series of YouTube series to promote the film.
