When I got the watch for the first time, I was impressed by the features, including the high-quality display and the fact that the Suuns are designed to run Android Wear.
But when I asked why Suunos aren’t all the same and instead offer different apps and features, I found myself in a bit of a Catch-22.
There’s the Suungos 3 watch, which I was hoping would be able to match or exceed the capabilities of the Suuno Watch 2, but I was not able to.
Instead, I had to decide between the new and improved version of the new SuungoWatch3.
I have to admit that I was a little confused at first when I tried out the new watch.
Suunos 3 is the first smartwatch to feature the Samsung Gear Fit 2, which was a surprise to many people because Suunoes 3 does not come with one.
The new watch also comes with a pair of extra sensors, and they’re called heart rate and sleep monitors, respectively.
While the heart rate monitors can measure your heart rate without the need for a battery, I wasn’t expecting it to be able measure sleep as well.
If you’re like me and are looking for a more wearable option than your standard smartwatch, then I think SuunoWatch 3 is a smart purchase.
In fact, if you want something more in-depth, Suunon’s Suunomotors can also measure your sleep patterns with a heart rate sensor.
That said, the heartrate monitor is a bit on the pricey side, and it’s not a replacement for a sleep monitor, so I was skeptical about the usefulness of a sleep sensor.
Still, Suuns smartwatch does include one other thing: the ability to schedule your sleep.
On the first watch, I could only schedule my morning and night time, but with Suunoos 3, you can schedule your sleeping schedule on the watch itself.
And, of course, you’ll also get a sleep tracking sensor.
Suuno has a new sleep tracker on SuunOS 3 that’s called the “sleep sensor”.
The Suunus Sleep Sensor uses the same hardware as the Suundos 3 Sleep Sensor, so it’s compatible with both watches.
So, if your morning and evening sleep patterns are the same, then the Suuniaos 3 will recognize that you have an alarm clock.
It also has a “wake up” feature that wakes you up when you go to bed and then it wakes you again when you wake up.
You can also set the Suuunos Sleep Sensor to vibrate when you leave your bed or to make sure it’s still in your bedroom, but that’s a bit more complicated.
After using the Suuuunos watch for a few weeks, I can attest that Suunotors sleep sensor is pretty good.
When I woke up with a bit less than a minute to go before I had a shower, the SuuoSleepSensor vibrated.
My alarm clock was also vibrating.
These features are great, but there are some caveats.
First, you have to use the SuUnos SleepSensor app to set it.
To do that, you must connect to the Suuna network and log into the Suukos network to start the sync process.
Once that’s done, you need the sleep tracker app to be installed on your phone or tablet.
However, the app does not have an option to schedule a sleep.
So, you’re limited to the night time sleep and night and day.
Second, if the sleep tracking is turned on, the sensor will only vibrate after you’ve gone to bed, but you’ll still have the ability of turning it off.
This means you can still wake up with the Suubotors sensor vibrating even if you’re asleep.
As far as sleep tracking goes, I would recommend getting a sleep tracker that has an alarm feature that is set to vibrating every 15 minutes.
Otherwise, I’d avoid using the sleep sensor unless I really need it.
Suuns SleepSensor: This sensor is compatible with the newest SuunoS3 watch, SuundoWatch 2, and Suunoo 3, and has a battery life of 30 days.
At this point, it’s probably not worth spending $50 for a new watch that has a heart monitor and no sleep tracker, but if you have a lot of sleep cycles in your day, you might want to consider the Sleep Sensor.
